My name is Doug and from my teenage years I've dreamt of staging a festival here on the land my family have cared for and worked on for four generations. It has not been an easy path, I didn't expect it to be. My inspiration for this festival called LodeStar is the thought of people coming together and creating a time we can share. The aim is to bring a whole lot of fun and enjoyment to many and at the same time offer an opportunity for others to be involved and participate in the event, even if you have never thought of doing so before. It is something I hope you wouldn't regret, it should be supportive in many ways, -all from one long weekend in a year. I hope you come along and make loads of new friends.
The farm here in Lode really is a special place to be, here in the flat fenland the expansive night sky is sprinkled with stars and in the distance the guiding star that has formed some of the inspiration of this festival.

Over the ages the LodeStar has been of great importance to many people, one to navigate by, both in terms of travel and myth! As a newly discovered tri-star it seems to hold more significance. When you gaze up at the midnight sky into its timeless depths it's hard not to be philosophical about our world and our time here together. It's a great place to reflect on your journey in life. I hope you decide to join us at LodeStar to celebrate its beginning, to take part in something special.

A professional team aided by a keen band of volunteers, you could be one (it's fun, I've done it), the traders supplying quality food and wares, the crews, film makers and some of the best artists around will all be here!

The happening

Well its forty years since a big happening, it wasn't market led, no organisation or global company it was individuals with a dream and wish, it mattered to people to be there and be part of it, the world was in turmoil. So what's changed... maybe we all have let technology and the daily rat race lead us away? Who questions what really does matter anymore. Those who were there will always remember, it touched thousands since having seen the film or read articles. Wouldn't it be great for something like it to happen again, as the farmer said "it's a victory for peace and love" all the people ....and music

Indie Rock, Acoustic and everything that hits either your ears or heart will be performing and as more new music emerges and the genres mix these forward thinking creative artists are able to bring out a sound and vibe that hits everyone. The energy of bands on stage can be electrifying, the vibrant music, and performances pulling people together.

The love of music is important in our daily lives. A fantastic tune with heart piercing lyrics is captured in your memory and the feelings and details of that moment are relived when the song is heard again. A memory is intangible but I hope you take away a feeling of having shared the experience with like minded people.

We are all unique but what happens to us is not. It's an ethos that we want to grow at the LodeStar Festival and the excitement and enthusiasm for this new festival is shared by every member of the LodeStar crew. I chose them not only for their recognised professional abilities, but also for their passion in staging an event that thrills people with an exciting experience that will be truly unforgettable.
