LodeStar supports the following Charities
The NHS provides significant funds to run a hospital like Addenbrooke's but with the fast moving pace of medical science and technology it is just not enough. Charitable donations therefore remain vitally important in order to keep Addenbrooke's at the forefront of medical diagnosis, treatment and research. Staff from Addenbrookes are putting in a huge amount of personal time above their already high workload at the hospital in preparation of attending LodeStar with fun and excitingly innovative ideas to grab your attention in aiding the purchase of life saving equipment. So ACT now!
Headway is a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury. It does this in a number of ways:
Locally
A network of local rehabilitation programmes, carer support, social re-integration, community outreach and respite care.
Nationally
Headway UK provides support to deliver high quality services through guidance on policies, procedures, standards and training.
The Headway UK Helpline provides information, advises on sources of support, finds local rehabilitation services and offers a listening ear to those experiencing problems.
They publish a range of booklets containing information about aspects of brain injury that will be helpful to those directly affected, plus professionals, employers and members of the public.
Promote understanding of brain injury and its effects.
Lobby for better support and resources to be made available by statutory health and social care providers.
Campaign for measures that will reduce the number of brain injuries.
Working all of my life as a farmer and looking back at the work I have done there is a certain pride in working to help provide one of life's basic needs, food. The other basic need is of course water. Water which is essential in all our lives is easily taken for granted when it comes clean and available out of a tap. For many this isn't the case. An aspect of turning my dream into reality by going forward with LodeStar and its ethos was looking to support charities. Whilst being aware of WaterAid I never appreciated just how big the massive loss of life was until I looked at the statistics on their website. Being made aware of the loss of life across the world as a result of people not having access to clean water is very sad. Let us all help turn on the tap of reality for those around the world of this basic life giving need, water. Supporting WaterAid is the most efficient way of doing so.
