The Little Night Terrors name was born on one fateful December night in Leicester when the moon was high and the music was loud. In their rehearsal room, draped in neon lights amid the dim glow of laptops and synths, drummer James Stone turned to brother Andrew Stone and comrades, Nick Eversfield and Calum Price. ‘How about this for a name?’ It fitted perfectly.
The foursome had all played in bands before and came together at the beginning of 2010 to start jamming on the fresh music that lead singer and songwriter Andy Stone had been working on. ‘I’d been reading a lot over the past year, a lot of books by the beat generation and authors such as Hunter S Thompson, Jack Kerouac and Bukowski. The idea of doing something different, rebelling against the norm, and taking a different path was what truly inspired the new songs,’ he says.
The music could be described as ‘a little bit of 90s dance, a little bit of house, played by The Who at Woodstock in 69.’ It’s different and wild, and breathless and excitable.
The band has a publishing deal with major label Universal Records under their belts. Their launch night gig in their hometown was a riotous, and sold out affair.
A music video on the way, more gigs, countless songs pouring out and a strange fascination with Bobby Vinton’s Blue Velvet, they’re a band that are winning hearts wherever they roam.
As the lyrics to one of their tracks proclaims, ‘It’s been a long time, but we’re going to Japan.’
Catch them while you can.
