Royal Treatment Plant
The classically trained London-based five-piece, led by Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist Paula Steel, received big acclaim for their debut ‘Hope is Not Enough’ with support coming from NME (8/10); Album of the Week on Huw Stephen’s BBC Radio 1 show; Nomination for Debut Album of the Year on XFM; BBC 6 Music Single of the Week (Steve Lamacq), and playlists including MTV2. RTP shone at leading UK showcases In The City and Camden Crawl and played with the likes of Marina & The Diamonds, Micachu, Young Knives, and Los Camposinos! before signing to Universal Music for Australia in 2009 and Tip Top Recordings in 2010 to release single All That’s Left (which featured a remix by America’s RAC) and their second album ‘Halfway To The Sun’. Recorded with producer Premen Underhill (Klaxons, Jack Penate, Little Death) and mastered at the renowned Metropolis Studios in London the record beautifully showcases their intricate songwriting and special musicianship. This highly talented five-piece includes bassist DJ Walde (musical director at Zoo Nation and Roundhouse Experimental Choir), guitarist Sam Taylor (cello Scott Matthew), drummer Chris Hodges (drums Bright Light Bright Light) and guitarist Tom Farncombe. In 2011 the band were invited to perform at SXSW in Austin, USA, where they played a number of leading showcases including the Play Network and Sonicbids event supporting the Bangles. Having previously soundtracked Topman campaigns with songs from their debut, RTP’s ‘All The Same’ has been used by F1 Rocks (Eminem & N.E.R.D in Sao Paulo) and as title track for two series of Channel 4′s On Track with Seat. Royal Treatment Plant recently hit the top five Amazing Radio chart and were chosen as Georgie Rogers’ Breakfast Show Artist of the Week on the station.
They kick off the ‘Halfway To The Sun’ live dates with their performance at LodeStar Saturday 3rd September before a string of festivals and UK shows.
